The building was constructed in 1920 which was a cornerstone of a bustling African American business and entertainment district in DeLand, Florida. The historic Greater Union First Baptist Church acquired the historic landmark in 2018 and has been restoring the building to its original architectural beauty as well as revitalize the town's center of Black commerce.
On December 10, 2022, Greater Union First Baptist Church hosted a neighborhood block party. Genia's Jammin Juice along with other vendors participated in this event to celebrate Wright's corner and promote black small businesses.
